Thank You Cadiz

So the adventure started last Friday morning, early! It was a very family affair as my partner, I and my parents took to the skies and flew to Gibraltar to then drive into Spain and onto Cadiz. What an adventure it was, filled with much laughter and an abundance of great food and wine, not to mention the beautiful space that was the ECCO where the exhibition was held.

From start to finish, every minute of the trip was fantastic. The city of Cadiz itself is stunning and I would strongly recommend that if you are in the area, near Seville, then take the hour long drive to Cadiz, because the old city is truly lovely and the many restaurants, plaza's are great to enjoy a beer in the evening sun, (which we seemed to do a lot of!)

The exhibition opening was a great success with the Mayor of the city and other museum directors opening the show. The space is stunning, with arched ceilings and marbled floors, it was a true pleasure and honour to be exhibiting in such a great venue and in fact to be taken on a guided tour of the city at night by the major as well as an excellent meal - thank you very much to the city of Cadiz for making our stay so pleasurable.

"Alice in Wonderland" exhibition tours to the Espacio de Creación Contemporánea (ECCO)

So "Alice in Wonderland" tours early than expected! The European Capital of Culture exhibition from Logomo tours from Turku, Finland to the new Contemporary Art Museum in Cadiz, the Espacio de Creación Contemporánea (ECCO). So with that in mind, I am off on Friday morning to sunny Spain for the opening - I am very excited, the space looks absolutely beautiful and I hear the city is stunning. I will post on my return the installation shots.

Spring/Summer 12 Collection "Poetic Tailoring" by HUGO Hugo Boss Out Now!

As London Fashion Week has been and gone and all focus transcends to Paris, I thought it only right to post about the HUGO by Hugo Boss collection that I inspired. As the "Poetic Tailoring" collection has been released, Hugo Boss have written about the inspiration on their website and photographer Alexei Hay has photographed this campaign. Above are the shots for the collection and a bit about the inspiration. Very exciting indeed!

PICA Opening 17th February 2012

So the first Hijacked III exhibition opens this Friday 17th at PICA in Perth Australia. Unfortunately I will not be attending the opening as alas I can only travel to a few shows this year and Australia is just that bit too far for me. I will update you once I have the installations shots of the show.

Exhibition Preparation - Hijacked III

As the months run away with me, I realised I hadn't been updating you on all things exhibition wise and much has happened, dates changing, shipping commencing and shows due to open in a days in some cases! As the original pieces got shipped back from Finland in mid January, a schedule was put together to send them all out again to other shows throughout the year. As well as the many shows happening this year, there is some very exciting news regarding forthcoming publications, which I will post as and when they are released, but first the Hijacked Publication UK/AUS is being released in Perth this Friday 17th February at The Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts.

"The New Alchemists"

So I can rest for a second, and only a second as I plan for the next year of shows back to back! But I thought I would take this moment to talk to you about the events of this week, which saw the opening of Photo50 at The London Art Fair on Tuesday and my panel talk with Aliki, Julie and Bridget on Wednesday lunchtime.

The opening night was a great success with many visitors, curators and gallerists attending the evening and the show was very well received indeed. Sue Steward's curatorial decisions produced a very exciting mix of artists using photography in an alternative manner. From David Birkin and Veronica Bailey's photojournalist lead exhibits to Esther Teichmann's hand-painted prints, the varying levels of craftsmanship was wonderful to see and be apart of. If you haven't yet seen the show I would strongly recommend you do as is a feast for the eyes and really does show you how photography is being used in the UK.

Next was the panel discussion on Wednesday which went very well and I would like to thank all the people that attended the talk, I hope you found it interesting and informative. It is always great to talk about something you love and have such a passion for and be able to share that with others of the same interests.
